Meet the Staff
City Clerk - Sheri Sharer
Sheri was raised in Brooklyn the daughter of Roger and Patti Nelson. Her Grandfather Maynard Saylor was the Superintendent of Public Works for over 25 years. Sheri graduated from BGM in 1997 and William Penn University in 2001 with a Business and Accounting degree.
On June 3, 2000, Sheri married Bart Sharer and moved to Montezuma. They have a daughter, Jadyn.
Sheri loves sports and is very active in all Jadyn's activities. She is an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan and attends all home football games. Her other love is her bulldogs Buster and Lucky (whom she rescued from a bad situation in Ohio). She organizes a Bulldog Facebook page.
Sheri was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. She is a cancer survivor and helps organize cancer fundraisers for friends and relatives. Cancer awareness is a big part of her life now.
City Treasurer - Tammy Kriegel
Tammy was raised in Oskaloosa, Iowa and graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1976. She then attended Hawkeye Community College and graduated with an Associate of Arts degree. Tammy moved to Brooklyn in 1983 and married Ted Kriegel May 28, 1988. They have two grown daughters, Lacey Kline and Lynsey Kriegel.
Tammy loves football and is an Iowa Hawkeye and Minnesota Viking Fan. She loves attending games for both. She also loves spending time with her Granddaughter Charlotte, planting flowers, and her Maltese - Komet. She serves on the Library Board as Secretary and is Treasurer for East Poweshiek Ambulance Service.
Superintendent of Public Works - Brian Van Tomme
Brian was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from BGM in 1995. He started working for the City of Brooklyn after graduation and has not left. He and his wife Kristin have two young children. Brian enjoys fishing, deer hunting and hanging out with his kids.
Assistant Superintendent of Public Works - Jim Clayton
Water Sewer Maintenance Specialist - Joe Clayton
Joe was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from BGM in 2008. He is married to Devinn and they have 1 son. He enjoys all types of hunting.
