Brooklyn Iowa

Streets

The City maintains all city street signs, street cleaning, street patching, and line striping. They also are responsible for all snow removal and sidewalk replacement.

Removal of snow, ice and accumulations

It is the responsibility of the abutting property owners to remove snow, ice and accumulations promptly from sidewalks. If a property owner does not remove snow, ice, and accumulations within twenty-four (24) hours of the end of the snowfall, the City may do so and assess the costs against the property owner for collection in the same manner as a property tax.

Parking on streets after a snowfall

No person shall park any motor vehicle on City streets after a snowfall. This no parking restriction shall continue until the City streets are cleared of snow.

Mowing Regulations

Each property owner shall keep the grass mowed to a height of no more than 8 inches. Properties shall be maintained so they are not a detriment to neighboring properties or a visual disturbance to others.

Grass shall be mowed so that grass does not discharge from the mower into the street. This clogs up the City's storm sewer and can be costly to taxpayers.
